FIDO at Georgia Tech

January 30, 2014

Where is your dog pursuing his graduate studies? Sky, a border collie, is part of a research team at Georgia Tech. They’re working on a project called FIDO (for “facilitating interactions for dogs with occupations”). Based on concepts in wearable technology, researchers are developing vests for dogs that allow them to communicate with their handlers by tugging or biting on a sensor. The research team, funded by a grant from Google, sees possible applications of this technology for dogs that assist the disabled, participate in search and rescue missions or work as bomb sniffers.  At West Kendall Animal Hospital, we have a lot of respect for working dogs.  Sky, we’re proud of the work that you and your team are doing.
